Anthropomorphic figure from Koulango, Ivory Coast. A hardwood sculpture depicting a figure of indeterminate gender, with a long, cylindrical torso and no arms. The head, supported by a slender neck, features a delicately modeled face beneath a voluminous, slightly pointed, ovoid headdress. The particularly meticulous rendering of the pelvis, buttocks, and arched legs contrasts with the extreme simplicity of the torso, revealing a composition of great sculptural mastery. A superb deep reddish-brown patina, with intensely lustrous surfaces and subtle signs of wear, highlights the harmony of the forms and the quality of the sculpture. Height: 24 cm
