Seated Mother Figure of the Gwandusu Type – Gwan Association, Bamana, Mali. A remarkable sculpture of a woman seated on a chair with geometric decoration, holding a child against her abdomen. The figure is distinguished by an imposing ogival hairstyle extended by long side strands, a face with refined features, and powerful shoulders surmounting a slender torso with conical breasts. Her folded arms, adorned with relief bracelets, frame the child in a composition of great sculptural precision.
