Pair of Akuaba fertility dolls, Fante (Akan), Ghana. A beautiful set of two female figures with slender rectangular heads, finely stylized faces, ringed necks, and cylindrical bodies. Their backs feature interesting incised geometric compositions, combining crosshatching, triangles, and curvilinear motifs. The lighter-colored piece is distinguished by a synthetic ivory-toned patina and significant wear on the sides, consistent with prolonged handling, while the second features a deep black patina punctuated by white highlights. Two sculptures with elegant proportions, combining a beautiful variety of decorative treatments and surfaces. Height: 28.5 and 29 cm
