Ashanti fertility doll “Akuaba,” Ghana. A female figure with a large, disc-shaped head and a delicately carved face featuring arched eyebrows, half-closed eyes, and a small mouth. The ringed neck surmounts a conical body with horizontal arms, creating a composition of great sculptural purity. The reverse side of the disc features an interesting set of incised motifs, partially obscured by surface wear. The wood has a deep, satiny brown-black patina, revealing subtle reddish-brown hues. Height: 36.5 cm
