Nkishi Songye power figure, DR Congo. An impressive sculpture carved from dense wood, notable for the expressive power of its face—with widely stretched eyes, an open mouth forming a figure-eight, and a chin that juts strongly forward. The head, topped with a horn, retains fragments of animal skin and numerous oxidized upholstery nails. The body features an abdominal cavity surrounded by small metal elements, as well as a red bead necklace, a cloth loincloth, and various ritual attributes. Beautiful reddish-brown patina, locally lustrous, with a desiccation fracture. Formerly in the collection of J. Lecluse, Liège Height: 40.5 cm
