Bena Biombo Mask, DR Congo. A carved wooden mask featuring an oval face with half-closed eyes, an elongated nose, and delicately sculpted lips. Remarkable polychrome decoration in black, red, and creamy white, consisting of vertical bands beneath the eyes and triangular motifs covering the cheeks, temples, and chin. The mask retains its original, carefully assembled textile headdress, as well as a substantial beard made of plant fibers. Beautiful patina from use, showing signs of wear and age-related changes in the polychrome paint. Acquired by the previous owner in 1972. Height: 35 cm
