Dan Maou Mask, Ivory Coast / Liberia. A remarkable Ge Gon (Gegon) anthropozoomorphic mask with a hornbill’s beak. Carved from wood, it features a face with powerfully stylized forms, characterized by a domed forehead, deep brow ridges, large, openwork circular eyes, and a mouth extended by two impressive curved projections evoking the open beak of a hornbill. The mask is crowned with a large headdress made of braided fibers, extended by long side strands. Beautiful deep brown-black patina with satin-like surfaces, showing signs of wear and traces of handling. Base included Height: 28 cm
