Yoruba Gèlèdè Mask, Nigeria. A beautiful carved and polychrome wooden dance mask, featuring a face with wide-open eyes, full lips, and scarifications highlighted with blue pigments. The composition is dominated by two elegant female figures, with finely striated hairstyles and arms adorned with bracelets, jointly holding a decorated cup. The piece stands out for the richness of its iconography, the balance of its composition, and its red-brown, black, and blue polychromy. Beautiful patina from use with deep hues. Height: 44 cm
