Toma/Loma Mask, Guinea/Liberia. A beautiful anthropomorphic mask carved from wood, featuring an elongated face with powerfully stylized features, a prominent nose, fine scarification marks on the cheeks, and an openwork tubular mouth—a rare feature for this type of mask. The tall headdress, adorned with a finely incised headband, is topped by two imposing curved elements. Superb antique gray-brown patina, deep and nuanced, showing significant wear on the reliefs, abrasions, and beautiful surface variations. The interior retains traces of carving and use. Museum reference: comparable to a Toma mask from the early 20th century held at the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, Paris, inv. 75.2022, acquired by the national collections in 1932. Base included. Height: 45 cm
