"Gélédé" Mask, Yoruba, Nigeria. With its highly restrained expression, this mask is distinguished by its large, fringed eyelids, its mouth with thick lips, and its ogival headdress marked by fine parallel grooves. The scarifications on the forehead and cheeks retain an indigo-blue color, while the ears are highlighted with green pigments, adding an interesting chromatic vibrancy to the wood’s patinated brown surface. The interior reveals the marks of the carving process and several attachment holes. Height: 31.5 cm
