Hemba Mask, DR Congo. An anthropomorphic mask carved from wood, featuring a simplified face with narrow, slit-like eyes and a long, tapered nose. The face, covered in white pigment, contrasts elegantly with the enveloping headdress, which has a reddish-brown patina and is finely craquelé. A beautiful composition with simple, balanced lines, showing signs of age and use. Hollowed-out back bearing old collector’s labels. Base included. Height: 30 cm
