Tanzanian Mask. A very beautiful carved wooden mask featuring an elongated face, extended by a cylindrical neck, with oval, hollowed-out eyes, a straight nose, and a wide-open mouth. The sculpture stands out for the power of its clean lines and its striking expression. The top of the skull and the chin still bear fragments of animal skin secured with small nails, a remarkable feature of this piece. Superb dark brown antique patina, deep and nuanced, with beautiful surfaces polished by use, signs of wear, and traces of age. The reverse side is deeply hollowed out, retaining significant carving marks. A mask of fine sculptural quality, with a particularly expressive presence. Probably from the Kwere or neighboring ethnic groups. Height: 28 cm
