Antique female Gu mask, Gouro ethnic group, Ivory Coast. Carved wood with a deep, satiny brown-black patina. An elegant Gu mask with a slender, introspective face, characterized by fine almond-shaped eyes, a long, tapered nose, a slightly parted mouth revealing the teeth, and a tall headdress extended by side strands. Beautifully sculpted with clean lines; the back is deeply hollowed out, showing ancient traces of carving, use, and mounting. First half of the 20th century. Base included. Height: 36 cm
