Koulango statuette, Ivory Coast. Wood. An elegant female figure with a powerfully elongated silhouette, characterized by a long, cylindrical neck, arms drawn back toward the abdomen, and a remarkable, architecturally designed hairstyle topped by a high sagittal crest. The face, with its contemplative features, and the strictly frontal composition lend the sculpture a hieratic presence. Beautiful, deep, glossy brown-black patina, nuanced with reddish tones and showing significant polish from use. Provenance: Justin Barthels, Maastricht Height: 34 cm
