CHINA, 20th century Two red-orange coral figures on wooden bases: - Seated woman holding a staff. Total height: 10 cm. Top of the staff is missing. - A standing old man and a kneeling child holding a flag and a bell. Total height: 12.7 cm. = As is; some surface cracks, chipping, and a few chips. These specimens, which have undergone mechanical processing through polishing, cutting, turning, or faceting, are listed in Appendix III of the Washington Convention (CITES) and in Appendix C of EC Regulation 338/97 of December 9, 1996. The commercial use of these specimens is permitted in the EU because the material is not raw but has been processed into jewelry. For any potential export, it is the responsibility of the successful bidder to check with the customs authorities of the relevant country—particularly the United States—prior to purchasing this lot containing coral. To take the items out of the EU, a CITES re-export permit will be required, the cost of which is the responsibility of the future purchaser.
