KINGDOM OF SARDINIA (1720–1796), second half of the 18th century A striking silver ladle (min. 800), of the filleted style, with a long handle and a scalloped scoop, heart-shaped fasteners and finials, and a compact bowl. A checkered coat of arms within a cartouche with a handle, surmounted by a crest featuring a count’s crown adorned with a unicorn’s head, engraved at a later date. Silversmith’s mark: G.?. TURIN, hallmark featuring the coat of arms of Savoy, framed by the assayer’s initials [C.M] for Carlo MICHA or MICA, active between 1759 and 1787. Exempt from hallmarking as the piece predates 1838 (Art. 524bis of the CGI, paragraph a). Weight: 312 g. - Length: 41 cm. Scratches and a few dents.
