Ritual rain-making iron with serpentine branches Wrought iron with a black patina, weathered by time and use. Mumuye, Nigeria. 36 cm From a tapered base springs a cluster of sinuous branches that fan out freely toward the sky, their movements evoking rearing snakes and flashes of lightning.
