Pair of bronze vases with cloisonné enamel, Japan, circa 1900 Baluster-shaped with a globular body, resting on a flared pedestal, extended by a tall neck that flares slightly toward the opening and flanked by two handles shaped like stylized bird heads. The vases are entirely adorned with a rich polychrome cloisonné enamel decoration on a turquoise-blue background, consisting of leafy scrollwork, blooming flowers, and medallions depicting phoenixes and hoho (Chinese children) holding flowering branches. The neck is embellished with circular medallions and geometric friezes, while the base and pedestal are accented with bands of geometric motifs. This type of vase is characteristic of Japanese production from the late Meiji period intended for export. Height: 41.3 cm
