Large blue-and-white porcelain dish of the Kraak type, made in China for export, Wanli period (1573–1619) Circular in shape with a scalloped rim, it is decorated in cobalt blue underglaze. The center features a landscape composition of a perforated rock topped with peonies and other flowers, accompanied by secondary vegetation and a phoenix in flight. An annular frieze featuring geometric and scale motifs separates the central field from the rim. The rim is divided into broad, radiating compartments alternating between precious objects or archaic-style vases and groups of three stylized fruits evoking peaches of longevity, separated by small secondary panels adorned with geometric motifs, emblems, and scaly reserves. The lobed-edge marli is outlined by a double fillet that follows the undulations of the rim. This design belongs to the repertoire of so-called Kraak porcelain produced in Jingdezhen for export markets in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The radiating composition of the rim, the alternation of main and secondary compartments, and the decoration combining precious objects, fruits, and symbolic plants are characteristic of productions from the Wanli period. Dimensions: Diameter: 47 cm Condition: A chip from which a crack extends across the marli.
