Historic Oriental powder horn with silver mountings, an artfully decorated horn container with a carrying chain An interesting, traditionally crafted powder horn made of curved natural horn with elaborate silver mountings, presumably from the Indian or Tibetan cultural region, possibly dating from the 19th to the early 20th century. The characteristically curved horn body is fitted with decorative silver fittings at both ends. The wider end features a cup-shaped mount with a beaded border running all the way around and an attached closure knob. The narrow, tapered end is fitted with an elongated silver mount, which features geometric engravings on one side, including triangular and dot motifs. The visible sections of the natural horn material display a warm brown color. A metal link chain attached to the side was presumably used to carry or secure the container.
