Three Wise Monkeys, Hand-Carved Wooden Figures: Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru A decorative set of three hand-carved monkey figurines made of dark brown wood. The seated monkeys embody the traditional motif of the three wise monkeys and symbolize the principles of “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” Each figure depicts one of the characteristic gestures, with hands placed over the eyes, ears, or mouth, respectively. The three-dimensionally rendered bodies, featuring finely carved fur textures, expressive faces, and naturalistic postures, attest to meticulous craftsmanship. Originally known from Japanese culture, this motif represents wisdom, restraint, and moral conduct. Each figure is carved from wood and displayed on a small, intricately crafted base.
