Château Mouton Rothschild, 3 Original Wine Labels, Pablo Picasso, John Huston, and Balthus, 1973, 1982, 1993 A collection of three original artist-designed labels from the world-famous French winery Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, Bordeaux. This historic winery is particularly known for its wine labels, which have been designed annually since 1945 by internationally renowned artists. These extraordinary labels combine the history of great Bordeaux wines with significant 20th-century art and are considered highly sought-after collector’s items. The collection includes the following vintages: 1973 - Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) A figurative composition based on the work “Bacchanale” by the world-famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. The depiction shows a lively mythological scene with dancing figures rendered in expressive lines and a subdued color palette. The label was chosen as a tribute to the artist, who passed away in 1973. At the same time, this vintage commemorates the historic elevation of Château Mouton Rothschild to Premier Cru Classé status. Framed behind glass with a dark mat in a blue wooden frame. 1982 - John Huston (1906–1987) A colorful composition by the famous American film director and artist John Huston. The motif depicts a stylized white ram against a blue background, complemented by grapes, vine leaves, and a red sun. The ram symbolizes the winery’s traditional heraldic animal. The label bears a printed personal dedication from Huston to Baron Philippe de Rothschild, honoring his 60th vintage. Framed behind glass with a wide white mat in a natural-colored wooden frame. 1993 - Balthus (1908–2001) A finely executed figurative drawing by the renowned French-Polish painter Balthus, whose real name was Balthasar Klossowski de Rola. It depicts a kneeling female nude rendered in restrained, sketch-like lines. This design is one of the most famous artist labels for Château Mouton Rothschild and garnered particular attention because the nude depiction was replaced on the American market with an alternative, unprinted design. Mounted behind glass with a dark mat in an elaborately profiled, gold-colored wooden frame. All three original labels are presented individually behind glass in different decorative wooden frames. An attractive collector’s set featuring works based on designs by three internationally renowned artists, linking the rich wine tradition of Château Mouton Rothschild with 20th-century art history. Contents: 3 framed original wine labels from the 1973, 1982, and 1993 vintages.
