Château Mouton Rothschild, 2 Original Wine Labels, Artist Editions by Keith Haring and Georg Baselitz, 1988, 1989 A collection of two original artist-designed labels from the world-famous French winery Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, Bordeaux. This historic winery is particularly known for its wine labels, which have been designed annually since 1945 by internationally renowned artists. These extraordinary labels combine the history of great Bordeaux wines with significant 20th-century art and are considered popular collector’s items. The collection includes the following vintages: 1988 - Keith Haring (1958–1990) A characteristic graphic composition by the world-renowned American Pop Art artist Keith Haring. The design depicts two stylized rams facing each other, with spiral horns and striking black outlines against a purple background. The motif humorously references the winery’s traditional heraldic animal and reflects Haring’s distinctive visual language. Framed behind glass in a gold-colored, profiled wooden frame. 1989 - Georg Baselitz (b. 1938) An expressive composition by the renowned German painter Georg Baselitz. It depicts two upside-down rams in bold shades of red and green, in keeping with the artist’s characteristic visual language. The depiction is complemented by the handwritten inscription “Drüben sein jetzt hier” (“Over there is now here”), an artistic allusion to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and German reunification. The label thus combines the time-honored symbolism of Château Mouton Rothschild with a significant event in German history. Mounted behind glass in a narrow gold-colored frame with a light-colored mat. Both original labels are individually mounted behind glass in decorative frames. An attractive collector’s set featuring works based on designs by two internationally renowned contemporary artists. Contents: 2 framed original wine labels from the 1988 and 1989 vintages.
