Field Marshal August von Mackensen, historical field postcard and signed thank-you card, A historically interesting collector’s set from the World War I era**, dedicated to the Prussian Field Marshal August von Mackensen (1849–1945), one of the most famous German military commanders of World War I. The decorative display, framed behind glass, includes a historical portrait photograph of August von Mackensen in military uniform with medals and decorations. Below it is a field postcard bearing the inscription “Field Postcard of the High Command” as well as a clearly legible round postmark dated November 6, 1915, identifying Mackensen’s 4th Army Group. At the bottom is a personal thank-you card with the following printed text: “Sincere thanks for the welcome birthday wishes.” Below that is the address “Waldhaus Falkenwalde, Stettin 1, Land,” as well as the large, handwritten signature “Mackensen.” August von Mackensen was born in 1849 and was one of the most prominent military commanders of the German Empire during World War I. Among other things, he led units on the Eastern Front and in the Balkans and was promoted to Field Marshal in 1915. The field postcard, bearing the High Command’s postmark, establishes a direct historical connection to his military activities during World War I. Of particular note is the separately presented thank-you card with a handwritten signature. - Historical portrait photograph of Field Marshal August von Mackensen in uniform. - Field postcard from the Supreme Command with a round postmark dated November 6, 1915. - Personal thank-you card with a handwritten signature reading “Mackensen.” - Elaborately designed mat in coordinated shades of beige, blue, and red. - Mounted behind glass in a white, profiled wooden frame. The authenticity of the signature and the original, contemporary nature of the individual documents have not been independently verified. A prestigious military-historical memento of particular interest to collectors of autographs, field post, and documents from the German Empire.
