Original autograph, Captain Karl Friedrich Max von Müller, SMS Emden, naval collage with cap ribbons A historically significant collection of memorabilia related to German naval history, focusing on the famous small cruiser SMS Emden of the Imperial German Navy and its legendary commander, Karl Friedrich Max von Müller (1873–1923). Von Müller gained international fame during World War I as the commander of the SMS Emden. In 1914, the light cruiser waged a successful war on commerce against Allied ships in the Indian Ocean and became particularly well-known for its extraordinary exploits and the conduct of its crew. On November 9, 1914, the SMS Emden was put out of action in a battle with the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney near the Cocos Islands. This decorative collage combines a historical portrait of an officer, two photographs of the ship, a handwritten autograph clipping, and two textile naval cap bands. - Subject: Karl Friedrich Max von Müller (1873–1923), frigate captain in the Imperial German Navy and commander of the SMS Emden. - **Autograph:** Handwritten clipping with a personal dedication and signature, attributed to Max von Müller. - Historical portrait photograph of the naval officer in uniform. - Two historical ship postcards depicting the SMS Emden. - **“Cruiser Emden” cap band:** Black textile naval cap band with gold-colored lettering. - **“Escort Boat Emden” cap band:** Black textile naval cap band with gold-colored lettering. - Additional inscription with the commander’s biographical details. - Reference to the awarding of the Pour le Mérite order in 1914. - The two cap bands relate to different periods of German naval history. Karl Friedrich Max von Müller is one of the best-known German naval commanders of World War I. His exploits aboard the SMS Emden made the ship one of the most famous German warships of its time.
