Oil on painting board, Paul Ernst WILKE (1894–1971), North German Landscape with an Avenue of Birch Trees and a Farmhouse An atmospheric landscape painting by the German artist Paul Ernst Wilke (1894–1971). The painting depicts a rural path stretching into the distance between tall, partly leafless trees. To the left of the avenue stands a characteristic North German half-timbered farmhouse with red brickwork, while expansive meadows and fields stretch out to the right. The atmospheric depiction captivates with its loose, Impressionist-influenced brushwork and the harmoniously balanced color palette of warm earth tones, ochre, and shades of green. The cloudy, light-filled sky and the damp sections of the path lend the composition a distinctive autumnal mood and a sense of spatial depth. • Artist: Paul Ernst Wilke (1894–1971)\ • Medium: Oil on painting board\ • Subject: North German landscape with an avenue of birch trees, a farmhouse, and expansive fields\ • Signature: Signed lower right\ • Style: Expressive, impasto painting style with Impressionist influences\ • Framing: In a dark wood frame with a gold-colored inner molding Dimensions: 61 × 81 cm including frame Correct the color descriptionSeparate image and frame dimensions
