5000 - Japanese Satsuma Vase, Gyōzan, magnificent floral decoration with gold painting, signed

Japanese Satsuma Vase, Gyōzan, magnificent floral decoration with gold painting, signed Large, decorative Japanese ceramic vase in a classic baluster shape with elaborately executed, polychrome Satsuma painting and delicate gold accents. Against a cream-colored background, a magnificent floral landscape extends around the vase, featuring a gnarled, flowering tree, delicate cherry blossom branches, as well as lush chrysanthemums and other flowers in vibrant shades of red, pink, blue, and green. Particularly noteworthy are the delicate rendering of the blossoms, the finely balanced color scheme, and the richly ornamented borders on the shoulder, neck, and base. The shoulder area features a dense floral pattern on a green background, complemented by geometric motifs and gold-colored embellishments. The slightly flared neck of the vase and the base are edged with decorative gold borders. Marked on the underside with a Japanese gold mark, “暁山” (Gyōzan), framed in red, and above it the Shimazu family crest—a cross within a circle. The mark indicates a Japanese workshop or a decorator working in the Satsuma tradition. A fine example of Japanese artistic ceramics, featuring detailed floral painting and characteristic Far Eastern ornamentation. Height: approx. 38 cm.
