6 historic silver rattles with whistles, India, probably around 1900 An interesting collection of six traditional, artfully crafted silver rattles with integrated whistles and bells, presumably from northwestern India, possibly Rajasthan or Gujarat. Stylistically attributable to the late 19th to early 20th century, presumably around 1900. The six differently designed pieces feature elongated, conical pipe bodies with side openings and turned connecting shafts. The decorative tops consist of openwork spherical bells—sometimes arranged in pairs or in groups—as well as funnel-shaped elements. Particularly charming are the finely crafted rosette decorations, the movable resonating chambers, and the small hanging bells attached to them. The combination of a pipe and a rattle is characteristic of traditional Indian silverwork. • Origin: Presumably Northwest India, Rajasthan, or Gujarat\ • Date: Presumably around 1900, late 19th to early 20th century\ • Material: Silver, hallmarked, fineness not determined\ • Quantity: 6 pieces\ • Design: Various bell attachments with conical pipe bodies, openwork ball rattles, and movable bells\ • Special features: Some bear stamped marks or hallmarks Traditional silverwork with decorative and cultural-historical significance.
