304 - Stone idol. Bactria, 3rd–2nd millennium BCE. Height 23 cm. Made of beige stone. Flat base, egg-shaped body, two opposing holes drilled diagonally inward at the top. The exact function of this object is unclear: it is likely an idol or a weight. Surface slightly chipped, otherwise intact. Provenance: formerly from a private collection in Berlin, acquired at Gorny & Mosch Auction 292, 2022, Lot 352; formerly Gorny & Mosch 287, Munich 2022, Lot 362; formerly a Belgian private collection, M.C., acquired in 2003.
