Etruscan relief depicting a woman, from an architectural wall panel. 200–170 B.C. Height: 50.1 cm, width: 27.3 cm, depth: 14.7 cm. Light brown clay with slight traces of reddish-brown paint. A woman standing on a ledge, wearing a sleeveless, belted chiton, her right arm extended to the side, her left arm bent forward. Next to her is the hind leg of an animal. Perhaps this depicts Artume, the Greek Artemis, with a doe. There are five mounting holes in the panel. An interesting technical detail is the concave right edge, which implies that the adjoining panel was correspondingly convexly curved. Includes a copy of the invoice! The head, arms, and a fold of the robe at the bottom left are broken; otherwise, there are only minor chips. Provenance: Formerly in the collection of A. M., Ascona / Amsterdam, acquired in 1970 in Locarno from the Fasciani-Escher Gallery.
