Paul JOUVE (1878–1973) Fish of Bermuda, 1956. Gouache on paper for wash, MBM Signed lower left Inscribed “Bermuda” and dated 1956 lower center Dimensions: 35 x 26 cm Note: During a month-and-a-half-long trip to the United States in 1956, Jouve began his journey in Bermuda. Fascinated by the tropical fish in the aquariums, he stayed there for about fifteen days and brought back paintings and drawings from this stopover. These works culminated in the creation, in his studio, of a three-panel folding screen, now in the collection of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Reims.
