As the founder of so-called “digitalism-art,” which he launched in 1978, he consistently drew upon the formal language of digital technologies. In “Hybrid Sunflower,” organic natural forms and technical aesthetics merge: The sunflower—a symbol of energy and light—is constructed from industrial materials and appears as a technoid natural being. Circuit boards, metal, and heat sinks transform the traditional floral motif into an iconic object of the digital age.
