Georg Anton Rasmussen 1842 Stavanger – 1914 Berlin – Norwegian Fjord Landscape – (1885) Oil on canvas. 61 x 96 cm. 74 x 109 cm (dimensions including frame). Signed, indicated place of origin, and dated lower left: A. Rasmussen / D(üsseldor)f. / 1885. Framed. Restored (color changes). Slight loss of color. - Lit.: TH.-B. XXVIII, p. 23. Rasmussen studied under Rhode at the Stockholm Academy and in Düsseldorf with O. Achenbach and H. Gude. He was initially active in Düsseldorf and, from 1899 onward, in Berlin. His preferred subject was the Norwegian fjord landscape in its daily and seasonal changes. His paintings are held in collections in Bergen, Stockholm, Mainz, and Dresden, among other places.
