Andora 1958 Berlin (East) — lives and works in Berlin — "INDEX" — (1989) mixed media/hardboard (irregular quadrilateral shape, painted on both front and back). 137 x 79 cm (viewable dimensions). 148 x 105 x 20 cm (dimensions including frame and hanging hardware). Signed and dated lower right: Andora (19)89. Framed on both sides under Plexiglas in a solid metal frame. - Copies of the artist’s invoice from 1989 and the consignor’s proof of purchase from 1999 are available. A former advertising sign for the legendary indie club “INDEX” in Hanover, painted on both sides by the well-known German Pop Art artist Andora. Andora grew up in East Berlin. In 1980, he succeeded in obtaining expatriation from the German Democratic Republic. He is regarded as a cosmopolitan Pop artist whose works can be found in private and public collections in the U.S. and Europe.
