Opal necklace with sapphires and seed pearls Circa 1900. 585/- rose gold, unhallmarked. Total weight: 13.3 g. 1 oval solid opal cabochon (7 x 5 x 2.9 mm). 2 sapphires and various seed pearls. Centerpiece: 3 x 4.5 cm. Chain: L. 42 cm. Latch clasp. Good condition. Exquisitely crafted necklace from the late 19th century. The ornately openwork centerpiece features a curved, floral design with a centrally set solid opal cabochon, flanked by two sapphires and numerous seed pearls. Three movable suspended pearls form the lower border. The combination of warm-toned rose gold, the iridescent play of colors in the opal, and the delicate seed pearls is characteristic of the elegant jewelry of the period around 1900.
