Jewelry Set: Biedermeier medallion with floral decoration and a pair of historicist earrings made of foam gold, second half of the 19th century. Gold-plated metal, gold, and metal; unhallmarked. Total weight: 12.3 g. Enamel, seed beads. Medallion: 4.4 x 2.2 cm. Earrings: L. 2.2 cm. Ear hooks. Signs of age and wear. Oval, hinged medallion with black enamel and a finely crafted floral bouquet featuring ears of grain, blossoms, and foliage. Inside, a historic lock of hair behind glass on a blue background; the opposite inner side is enameled blue. Accompanied by a pair of historic-style earring pendants made of ornamentally embossed gold leaf with oval, light-colored inlays and small star-shaped gold appliqués. In the 19th century, hair medallions served as personal mementos and symbols of affection. They were worn both as jewelry of love and friendship and as a memorial to the deceased.
