985 - Art Deco brooch / pendant with carved jadeite and diamonds

Art Deco brooch / pendant with carved jadeite and diamonds Circa 1920–40. Platinum, unhallmarked. Total weight: 9.7 g. Jadeite (3.5 x 2 cm). Approx. 18 diamonds in old-cut and octagonal cuts, total 0.4–0.5 ct. Dimensions: 2.6 x 4.4 cm. Pendant designed to be worn in a high oval setting. Very good condition. At the center is an oval jadeite plate, partially openwork, in various shades of green with relief-carved floral decoration. The geometrically designed setting is set with numerous old-cut and octagonal-cut diamonds. The back of the setting features elaborate engravings of stylized fan, spiral, and geometric motifs. Pin clasp and pendant loop. The natural origin of the jadeite’s color has not been verified. The brooch combines traditional Chinese jade carving artistry with the geometric design language of European Art Deco.
