Art Deco brooch with carved jadeite and diamonds Circa 1920–40. 585/- white gold, hallmarked. Total weight: 7.4 g. 1 jadeite in a range of colors from pale to deep green, carved in relief on both sides and partially openwork with stylized Chinese motifs. Approx. 14 diamonds in old-cut and octagonal cuts, total approx. 0.3–0.4 ct. The upper, curved setting features floral decoration and is set with diamonds; the lower edge is in a trefoil shape. Dimensions: 4 x 1.8 cm. Double pin with safety clasp. Very good condition for its age. The brooch combines Far Eastern carving artistry with early 20th-century European jewelry-making traditions. The finely crafted jadeite features three-dimensional, partially openwork ornamentation reminiscent of traditional Chinese symbols of good luck and protection. The curved, diamond-set white gold setting creates a charming contrast to the stone’s intense green color. The combination of Asian jewelry elements with Western goldsmithing is characteristic of the exotic-inspired jewelry design of the Art Deco period.
