Zisha cup by Mingyuan China, 19th/20th century. Zisha clay. Dimensions: approx. 5.5 × 13.5 × 8 cm. Signed. Root-shaped with “Three Friends of Winter” decoration: pine, plum blossom, and bamboo. Good condition, slight signs of wear. The signature “MingYuen” likely refers to Chen Mingyuan, the outstanding Yixing master of the Kangxi and Yongzheng periods. He came from a family of Zisha artisans in Shangyuan (Yixing) and is considered one of the most versatile artists in the art of Yixing pottery. His works combine the elegant Ming tradition with refined, lifelike forms. This piece is likely a later reproduction in his style.
