Peach-blossom-red glazed amphora vase with Kangxi mark China, 19th century. Porcelain, glazed. Height: 17 cm. Wooden base. Six-character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue. In good condition. Wooden base with a crack. The bulbous body, in an inverted pear shape, rises to a slender, indented neck with a widely flared rim. Covered with a speckled peach-blossom-red glaze featuring delicate green areas beneath a colorless overglaze, which also covers the deeply indented foot. Peach-blossom red (peachbloom) glazes are among the rarest and most sought-after glazes in Chinese porcelain art. The subtle transitions between shades of red and green result from an extremely complex firing process and make each piece one-of-a-kind. Consequently, such vases are particularly prized by collectors.
