Historic Fürst Pless Hunting Horn Germany, probably first third of the 20th century. Brass, possibly nickel-plated, with dark green leather wrapping. Dimensions: 32 x 30 x 13 cm. Engraving: “Fürst Pless” and arrow mark B. Signs of age and wear; leather wrapping partially damaged. The Fürst Pless horn is a traditional hunting signal instrument, named after Hans Heinrich XI, Prince of Pless (1833–1907), who played a key role in popularizing this type of horn in German hunting culture. The compact, circularly coiled horn was used to transmit hunting signals and remains an integral part of hunting traditions to this day. In addition to its musical function, it is also a distinctive testament to historical hunting culture and a charming decorative piece for hunting rooms and hunting lodges.
