OPEL - DIE SIEGERIN [URVERSION]PUBLICITÉE ANCIENNE | PLAQUE ÉMAILLÉE Condition (3/R) | Enamel sign, embossed by hand, slightly convex backing material, bold stenciling, also colored by hand and finely lithographed, GER around 1895, 80 x 125 cm, H. Peters Emaillir-Werk, Elberfeld, this is a variant of the waving lady with the Opel bicycle that we had not seen before - an early version with a slight curve. The lithograph comes with a different shading and finer facial features here, the red border and the boldly filled-in brand lettering were enameled in a more ruby-like color. Apparently, in the slightly later versions, the folded edge was added for stability, so that the sign would not warp during firing despite its 4mm thickness. Fortunately, this piece is extremely sturdy. The surface has a very beautiful gloss, with no significant scratches - old visible restorations are limited to a few small areas. The woman herself is affected by this only on one leg (please refer to the attached image for a detailed illustration). This “champion” resurfaced in France just this year and found its way to us, so we are now proud to offer you this masterpiece of German enamel advertising. | This is an authentic original, no replica or fake.
