20th-century Chinese school. “Woman in a Garden.” Ink on fabric. Stamp in the lower right corner. It has minor imperfections in the upper portion. Measurements: 26 x 28 cm; 43 x 45 cm (frame). The elegance of the female figure and the precision of the drawing link this composition to the Chinese tradition of depicting ladies in gardens and palatial settings. The subject, dressed in flowing robes and with an elaborate hairstyle, stands next to a balustrade, framed by a pine tree and a rocky foreground. The fine, continuous line defines both the delicate features of the face and the folds of the dress, while the blue and green accents stand out against the warm tones of the fabric. The relationship between the figure, the architecture, and nature creates an intimate and refined scene, whose balance rests on the alternation between meticulously drawn areas and uncluttered surfaces.
