20th-century Chinese school. "Landscape with Figures." Ink on paper. Stamp in the upper left margin. Shows small stains. Measurements: 31.5 x 39.5 cm; 47 x 54.5 cm (frame). The delicacy of the line and the balance between forms and empty spaces link this work to the Chinese painting tradition. A pavilion surrounded by willow trees, next to a lotus pond, serves as the setting for a gathering of figures, evoking an ideal of seclusion and harmony with nature. The ink, applied through fine lines and soft washes, is combined with subtle touches of color that enrich the composition without disturbing its serenity.
