Pair of candlesticks. France, 19th century. Gilded and blued bronze. Measurements: 35 x 16 x 12 cm. Pair of Empire-style candelabra made of cast bronze with an ormolu finish (bronze alloyed with mercury or gold-plated) combined with dark-patina bronze for the central figures. They depict standing female figures (in the style of caryatids or winged Victories/Vestal Virgins) on stepped pedestals decorated with classical motifs such as friezes or borders.
