Cyclops Horsemen; Lladró, Valencia, 20th century. Glazed porcelain. Number 18/500. One of the horses’ legs has been restored. Stamp on the base. Measurements: 57 x 54 x 28 cm. A sculptural group in glazed porcelain by Lladró depicting two warriors on horseback, conceived in a dynamic equestrian composition inspired by classical and mythological themes. This model was released in 1989 and discontinued in 2004, as part of a limited edition of 500 pieces. Designed by Fulgencio García López, one of the most prominent sculptors associated with Lladró’s early artistic development. Trained at the Valencia School of Fine Arts, he stood out for his mastery of figurative modeling and his ability to translate compositions of remarkable complexity into porcelain. Founded in Valencia by the brothers Juan, José, and Vicente Lladró, the Lladró company became one of the leading international names in Spanish artistic porcelain during the second half of the 20th century. From its inception, the company developed its own sculptural language, characterized by a combination of figurative tradition, decorative sensibility, and a high degree of technical expertise in porcelain modeling and firing.During the 1970s and 1980s, Lladró significantly expanded its artistic repertoire, incorporating more complex and larger-scale compositions inspired by historical, mythological, equestrian, and allegorical themes. One of the horses' legs has been restored.
