Schad, Christian Schadographs 16, 17, and 25. 1960s. 3 vintage gelatin silver prints on Agfa Brovira paper. Approx. 16 x 11 cm, 17 x 9.5 cm, and 10.5 x 8 cm. Each with a typed title and annotations in pencil and ink on the reverse; one also has a typed label, and two are signed and dated by Bettina Schad in pencil on the reverse. Christian Schad first experimented with camera-less photography during his association with Dada in 1919, arranging everyday materials on light-sensitive paper to create abstract compositions. He returned to the technique in the 1960s, expanding the body of work known as “Schadographien.” – All show some light surface marks; Schadographie 25 is slightly discolored in the lower area, and Schadographie 16 has bumped corners and a small crease in the upper right corner; otherwise, both are in good condition.
