Krajewsky, Max Maison de France, Berlin. ca. 1950. Vintage gelatin silver print on Afga-Brovira paper. 39.7 x 29.8 cm. Photographer's blind stamp in the lower left corner. Alongside Arthur Köster and Emil Leitner, Max Krajewsky was one of the leading architectural photographers working in Berlin. His extensive body of work combines technical precision with a keen sense of architectural form, providing an important record of the city’s changing built environment. The Maison de France, opened in 1950 as a center for Franco-German cultural exchange, was one of the early postwar reconstructions on Kurfürstendamm. – Several small retouched spots and light spotting, the latter visible only in raking light; three small tears along the upper edge and some silver mirroring, more visible when viewed at an angle; traces of previous mounting on the reverse; otherwise in good condition.
