Film Photography Photographer: Hans Natge (1893–1976). Scenes from the film *Faust*. 1926. 34 vintage gelatin silver prints on chamois paper. Each approx. 12.8 x 16.8 cm, including the reverse. Hans Natge was among the leading German film photographers of the 1920s–1940s. His early work was influenced by Pictorialism, and he experimented with various pigment processes. His photographs from F.W. Murnau’s *Faust* (1926) demonstrate his distinctive approach to film photography, capturing the atmospheric lighting, dramatic compositions, and expressive visual language of German Expressionist cinema. Most of the images in this set depict the lead actors Gösta Ekman and Emil Jannings. – Some prints have bumped corners, frayed edges, and some silver mirroring in shadow areas; otherwise, they are in very good condition.
