A delicate watercolor in Schultze’s characteristic style of lyrical abstraction and vibrant color. Due to the absence of representational elements, the interpretation of the pictorial space is based on purely personal associations and emotions and is guided by the artist through the work’s title. Bernard Schultze studied at the art academies in Berlin and Düsseldorf from 1934 to 1939. In 1945, during an air raid on Berlin, all of the artist’s early works were destroyed in a fire in his studio.
